You can export documents from ATO SmartDocs directly into your Directory Structure, including OneDrive, a server or any other file‑based Document Management System. Your implementation team typically sets up your directory path during onboarding so documents save automatically to the correct client folder.
To export documents and store them in the correct place, follow the steps below.
Before you begin, confirm that the Document Profile contains the correct directory structure path.
After confirming the directory structure, ensure you have finished processing all documents in ATO SmartDocs.
Select all documents you want to export by ticking the checkbox on the far left of each document.
To select multiple documents at once, open the dropdown beside Select All and choose Processed, or use Filters to refine the list.
We recommend notifying clients before exporting documents to your Document Management System, so check that the Client Notified tag exists.
After selecting the documents, click the Export to Directory Structure button.
A File Explorer window opens, allowing you to choose the export location.
Browse to the required location and click Select Folder. Generally, this is the main client folder where all client folders are stored.
A pop‑up message requests permission to edit files in the selected directory.
Click Edit files. The Export Files progress window appears and shows the export status.
After the export is complete, the Exported to Directory Structure tag appears beside the documents in the processing screen.
