Building XPM reports

This guide helps you build two reports in Xero Practice Manager (XPM). These reports are used to update the TFN and Estimated Tax amounts within your HubData in ATO SmartDocs.

Build the ATO SmartDocs TFN report

  1. Log in to Xero Practice Manager (XPM).

  2. Go to Reports > Report builder and click New report.

  3. In the popup window, complete the following:

    • Report type: Client & Contact

    • Report layout: Table

    • Click Create.

  4. Populate the report fields:

    • Field 1 (Title): Change to ATO SmartDocs TFN

    • Field 2: Select

      • [Client] Client Code or [Client] Export Code (depending on your practice setup), and

      • [Client] Tax Number

    • Field 3: Filter by [Client] Status β†’ excludes β†’ Archived

    • Field 4: Select any staff members you want to access this report

  5. Click Save (and Preview).


Build the ATO SmartDocs Estimated Tax report

  1. Create a new report by going to Reports > Report builder and click New report.

  2. In the popup window, enter the following:

    • Report type: Tax Return

    • Report layout: Table

    • Click Create

  3. Complete the fields:

    • Field 1 (Title): Change to ATO SmartDocs Estimated Tax

    • Field 2: Select

      • [Client] Client Code or [Client] Export Code,

      • [Tax Return] Tax Year,

      • [Tax Return AU] Amount Payable/Refundable

    • Field 3: Filter [Tax Return] Tax Year β†’ equals β†’ 2025

      • Note: Previous years will still process but will display orange and create a workflow for approval.

    • Field 4: Select staff members who should access the report

  4. Click Save (and Preview).

Completion

Both reports are now ready for you to run, download and bring into ATO SmartDocs.
